2 Dead, 1 Hurt In Boston Shooting

Two people were killed and one was injured in a shooting in Boston's South End early Monday.

As the Associated Press reports:

Authorities say the victims were shot while sitting in a car at the intersection of Shawmut Avenue and Herald Street in the city's South End at about 2:30 a.m. Monday.

The two people in the car's front seats died, while a backseat passenger was wounded. According to WCVB-TV, the third victim's injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

The names and ages of the victims have not yet been released.

WBZ-AM reports:

“There were two other individuals in the victim’s vehicle who fled the scene and left before police arrived. We want to make sure they’re okay, and obviously we want to talk to them about what they saw and any information they have relative to this investigation,” said Superintendent Dan Linskey of the Boston Police Department.

The AP adds:

Police think the fatal shots were fired from a silver or gold SUV with Rhode Island plates and they are currently looking for that vehicle.

Update at 1 p.m.: Boston Police confirm that the three victims are males, and that they are searching for a gray SUV with Rhode Island plates.
