In Pictures: Quake Knocks Over Shoe, Breaks Pencil

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a 4.0 magnitude earthquake that hit near Lake Arrowhead, Maine on Monday evening, creating tremors that extended down to Boston. And almost as soon as the tremors began, the Internet lit up with colorful responses to the mild shaking that coursed underneath them.  Here's a collection of some of the best responses to the earthquake, from Twitter and Instagram.
