Boston Records 1st Homicide Of 2013

Boston has recorded its first homicide of the new year.

The Boston Police Department said Tuesday that officers responded to a report of someone stabbed near 48 Pratt St. in Brighton around 2:45 a.m.

They found a male victim with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he later died.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

The number of homicides in the city has fallen in recent years. The Boston Globe reports the city had 58 in 2012, compared to 62 in 2011 and 74 in 2010.
