Teen Recovering After Roxbury Shooting

Leaders of a Boston church say a 13-year-old boy who was shot in the stomach while walking to church choir practice is expected to recover.

Police say Gabriel Clarke was walking from his home to the Berea Seventh Day Adventist Church in the Roxbury neighborhood on Friday night when someone from a passing car shot him in the stomach. He underwent surgery at Boston Medical Center.

Pastors at the church say the surgery was successful and Gabriel is expected to be OK. The Rev. Nigel David says it's nothing short of a miracle that Gabriel survived.

Police are still searching for the shooter. No arrests have been announced.

The Rev. Jeffery Brown of the TenPoint Coalition said this is just another example that action needs to be taken to curb gun violence across the nation.

"At this point it's no longer an inner city problem...it's an American problem, and we have to do something about it," he said.
