Lawrence Mayor Files Campaign Finance Reports

Lawrence Mayor William Lantigua has filed two years of campaign finance reports, narrowly beating a deadline to respond to a lawsuit by state Attorney General Martha Coakley seeking to force the disclosure.

Coakley said Wednesday the lawsuit will not be dismissed until officials review the reports to make sure they are complete and Lantigua pays a $4,000 fine in connection with the overdue 2011 report.

The Eagle-Tribune reports that the two forms Lantigua filed Tuesday show his fundraising dropped from 2011 to 2012.

The lawsuit filed earlier this month asks that Lantigua be ordered to submit his 2011 year-end campaign finance report with the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance. The report was due Jan. 20 of last year.

Lantigua could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.
