3 GOP U.S. Senate Hopefuls To Face Off In 1st Debate

The three Republicans running in Massachusetts' special U.S. Senate election are preparing to go head-to-head in their first debate. (You can watch online via WCVB-TV.)

Former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan, Cohasset businessman Gabriel Gomez and Norfolk state Rep. Daniel Winslow are heading to Stonehill College for Tuesday's match-up.

The three GOP candidates are hoping to win the support of enough Republican and independent voters in the April 30 primary to face the winner of the Democratic primary.

The candidates are not only trying to appeal to primary voters, but are also hoping to raise their name recognition among all Massachusetts voters. The short special election schedule leaves each candidate little time to break away from the pack.

Congressmen Edward Markey and Stephen Lynch are challenging each other on the Democratic side.

The special election is June 25.

This program aired on March 12, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
