GOP U.S. Senate Candidate Gomez To Launch TV Ads

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez is planning to launch the first television ads of his campaign.

Gomez said the ad will begin airing on Thursday and that he'll maintain a presence on television through the rest of the election. The primaries are scheduled for April 30.

In the ad, Gomez introduces himself in Spanish and discusses his service as a Navy SEAL.

Gomez campaign officials won't say how much the Cohasset private equity investor is planning to spend on the ads.

On Wednesday, a group supporting fellow Republican Senate hopeful Michael Sullivan put out a fundraising letter. The Conservative Campaign Committee said it hopes to raise more than $200,000 for television and radio ads before the primary.

A third Republican in the race, state Rep. Daniel Winslow, has launched radio ads.

Both Democratic hopefuls, Congressmen Edward Markey and Stephen Lynch, have already begun running television ads.

This program aired on March 27, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
