2 Arrested In Connection With Stoneham Shooting

Two men have been arrested in connection with the drug-related slaying last week of an Army veteran shot to death in a Stoneham home.

Authorities say 24-year-old Jessie Williams of Medford and 19-year-old Eugene Tate of Malden are scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Woburn District Court following their arrests Sunday.

They face murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting Friday of 27-year-old Joseph Puopolo and a 28-year-old man who survived.

The Middlesex district attorney's office says Puopolo went to the home at the request of a friend who had arranged to sell drugs to the defendants. The friend was concerned the defendants might try to rob him.

Puopolo's father said his son served in Afghanistan.

It was not clear whether the defendants had lawyers.
