Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask has signed an eight-year contract to stay in Boston.

The signing on Wednesday comes after Rask finished his first full season as a starter with a strong playoff performance. The Bruins lost the Stanley Cup finals in six games to the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Bruins say that the annual salary cap charge on Rask's contract is $7 million but they didn't reveal the total value of the deal.

Rask was 19-10-5 with a 2.00 goals against average in the regular season. In the postseason, he had a 1.88 goals against average.

He became the starter after Tim Thomas, who backstopped the Bruins to the Stanley Cup championship in 2011, took this past season off.

This program aired on July 10, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
