Arroyo To Go On Air This Week

Boston mayoral candidate Felix Arroyo will go on television this week with a 30-second Spanish-language television advertisement to run on Univision and Telemundo.

Arroyo, aiming to be the first Latino mayor of Boston, makes an explicit appeal to history in the spot.

"I'm running because I believe that everyone deserves to have a say about the future of our city," he says in the ad, according to a translation provided by the campaign. "With your help we will make history."

Doug Rubin, a senior adviser, said the campaign has made an initial four-week buy. He declined to detail the amount of money Arroyo will spend.

"There's a lot of excitement across the city about Felix's campaign, but in particular in the Latino community," he said. "We want to build upon that."

Translation:

Hi, my name is Felix Arroyo. I’m a son of this city that I love.

I was raised here, attended Boston Public Schools, and now I'm serving this city as your City Councilor and I’m running to become your next mayor.

I’m running because I believe that everyone deserves to have a say about the future of our city.

With your help we will make history. Vote on September 24 and together we will move this city forward.
