Report: Raynham Voters Endorse Slots Parlor Proposal
Raynham voters have overwhelmingly endorsed a slots parlor in a town-wide referendum, making the community the first to pass a host agreement required for such a facility under state gambling law.
Voters on Tuesday approved the community host agreement by a margin of 1,822 to 290.
Under the agreement, Raynham Park LLC will contribute more than $1 million in annual impact mitigation funds to the town, which will in turn allow the developers to operate a 1,250-machine slots parlor if awarded the state's sole slots license.
The Taunton Daily Gazette reports that Raynham Park owner George Carney thanked the people of Raynham.
Developers want to build a slots parlor with a hotel, restaurants and retail space on the 125-acre site of the Raynham Park simulcast facility and former dog track.
