Runners Stopped By Marathon Bombs Can Now Register For Next Year's Race

Registered runners who weren't allowed to complete the Boston Marathon because of the finish line explosions can now register early for the 2014 race.

The Boston Athletic Association says the registration period for the 5,633 runners who had reached at least the halfway point before being stopped on April 15 starts Monday and runs until Aug. 29.

The eligible runners have been informed of the process. Runners will be required to pay the entry fee but don't have to re-qualify.

Regular registration is scheduled to begin in September.

The BAA previously announced that those who couldn't complete the race because of the bombs are from all 50 states, four U.S. territories and 47 countries. They range in age from 18 to 82.

This program aired on August 19, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
