Ex-Salvadoran Military Leader Sentencing Continues

A former El Salvador military leader faces a second day of a sentencing hearing on immigration charges after a government witness testified he conspired to plot what turned into the Jesuit Massacre.

Inocente Orlando Montano was arrested in 2011 after about a decade living in a Boston suburb. He pleaded guilty to lying on U.S. immigration forms.

Prosecutors are asking for a sentence of more than four years for the 70-year-old Montano. His lawyer asked for probation.

A United Nations commission said Montano participated in a meeting to plot the killing of a priest suspected of supporting leftist rebels, which allegedly led to the deaths of six priests, their cook and her teenage daughter at a Jesuit university.

Montano has denied involvement.

Montano's sentencing is scheduled to continue Monday.
