Forecast: Up To 2 Inches Of Snow Expected In Boston

A weak area of low pressure will move to the south of New England Tuesday. The precipitation shield associated with this system will clip southern New England, dropping the heaviest amount of snow south of the Massachusetts Turnpike. Still, there will be some snow for nearly the entire state.

The precipitation will start as rain or a mix of rain and snow across Cape Cod and the Islands. As colder air moves into the system, the rain will change to snow. This means Nantucket, Dukes and Barnstable counties will see some accumulation. The highest amounts will be just away from the water.

Expect accumulations of 1 to 2 inches in Boston and 2 to 4 inches to the south.

The snow ends around or just after dark to the south and earlier inland and up north. Cold air moves in for the rest of the week with dry conditions.
