Federal prosecutors Thursday announced they will seek the death penalty against 20-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in the Boston Marathon bombing, accusing him of betraying his adopted country by carrying out a carefully planned terrorist attack without remorse.

Allison Burroughs, a former Boston-based federal prosecutor who's prepared death penalty cases for review by the U.S. attorney general, joined WBUR's Morning Edition Friday to analyze the legal ramifications of the Justice Department's decision to seek the death penalty.
