No Injuries In Suffolk Downs Kitchen Fire

The chief operating officer of Suffolk Downs race track says there have been no injuries to people or horses in a three-alarm fire at a track kitchen building.

Chip Tuttle said in a statement Tuesday evening the track expects to open its live racing season Saturday as planned.

Suffolk Downs said the three-alarm fire was brought under control about three hours after it was reported at 5:30 p.m. Revere firefighters are remaining on the scene.

Television news aerial photos earlier showed flames and smoke coming through the roof of the large, one-story building.

Tuttle said no horses are kept in the building, and those in nearby barns were relocated as a precaution. Tuttle thanked workers for their "quick thinking" and "amazing work" by firefighters.

Mohegan Sun has proposed building a resort casino on the property.
