Several developments are expected this week in the fight for control of Market Basket.

There's word the board of directors is considering a proposal to sell a majority stake in the supermarket chain to former CEO Arthur T. Demoulas.

His supporters face a Monday deadline to return to work or risk losing their jobs. Several managers said they have received a letter by certified mail Friday from chief executives James Gooch and Felicia Thornton notifying them they are not being paid because of their "ongoing failure to report to work," but would receive their checks if they report to work Monday.

Employees contacted by WBUR say they have continued to work while protesting the ouster of the former CEO.

On Monday, the supermarket chain is hosting a job fair to potentially hire replacement workers. Tuesday, protesting employees plan to hold what they are calling a major rally near the company's headquarters in Tewksbury.

WBUR’s Sharon Brody spoke with Josh Higgins, a district manager who has worked for Market Basket since 1996, about the recent developments. Listen to their interview above.
