Welding Co. Faces More Lawsuits In Fire That Killed 2 Boston Firefighters

A welding company owner is facing two more lawsuits over a Boston brownstone fire that killed two firefighters last March.

The Boston Herald reports the lawsuits against Giuseppe Falcone and Malden-based D&J Iron Works were filed within the past week in Suffolk Superior Court. Other defendants include Oliver Realty and Oliver Realty Limited Partnership, owners of an abutting property where welders allegedly sparked the blaze.

The lawsuits were filed by a neighboring property owner and insurer seeking more than $4 million and $500,000, respectively, to recover damages from the blaze, which killed Lt. Edward Walsh and firefighter Michael Kennedy. Falcone is facing a third lawsuit by the owner of the building that burned.

Lawyers for Falcone and Oliver Realty didn't respond to messages seeking comment. Falcone has denied wrongdoing.
