Forecast: Brisk, Cloudy Day With Highs Only In The 70s

A cool stretch of weather for late August begins Thursday with highs only in the low  to mid 70s for the rest of the week. It's going to be coolest at the coast, but even inland areas will be below average.

There is some inclement weather with showers, especially west of Boston the next couple of days. The main impact in eastern New England will be an increase in clouds.

There could be a sprinkle or a light shower on Friday, but the odds are heavily favoring no rain.

As we head into the weekend, I expect an improving weather picture and slightly milder air.

There might be some heat building later next week south of New England, but there is the possibility some of this does make it into our area.  As we head into Labor Day weekend, it's not out of the question some of the warmest weather of August may take place.

Today: A  bit of early fog otherwise a blend of clouds and sunshine.  Highs in the mid 70s at the coast and upper 70s west of Route 128.

Overnight: Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low in the mid to upper 50s.

Friday: Many clouds and some sunny breaks.  Highs around 70 at the coast to mid 70s well inland.

Saturday: A blend of clouds and sunshine.  A bit of a risk of a shower, but mostly dry. Highs only in the lower 70s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with highs between 72-to 76.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high in the mid 70s.
