Forecast: A Sunny Labor Day Weekend Overall, But A Few Showers

If you check the forecast hear regularly, you know I’ve been talking about clouds and showers for part of the upcoming weekend. You also know that the weekend isn’t going to be a washout. This hold true today as we sit on the cusp of the final unofficial weekend of summer.
High pressure remains in control today with lots of sunshine and a cool wind off the water. This means places like Boston will stay in the lower 70s, while inland areas reach the mid 70s.

If you are headed to the beach, the south coast is still experiencing some rip currents as the tropical system Cristobal passes east and north of the region. Swells from these systems can sometimes spread from hundreds of miles away. Even if we never see so much as a cloud from a storm like this, the waves can still reach our shores. The swells will subside today and the weather will be calmer over the weekend.

Saturday is the best day of the weekend with dry and mild air continuing from this week. Highs will be in the 70s. This will be a great day to be outside, but it might be a bit cool for some of you at the beach.

Sunday will start with some sunshine, but clouds will increase. It’s going to be a warm and humid day and feel like summer. There might be a few showers late in the afternoon and overnight. The exact timings and locations of these showers aren't solidified yet Friday morning, but it does appear some areas will see rain.

Labor Day itself will be a day featuring sunshine, clouds and still a small risk of a shower or even a brief thunderstorm. Highs continue in the lower 80s.

The bottom line on the weekend is while there is the chance of showers, most of the weekend is not only looking dry, but also, it should be rather sunny. You’ll just have to take along some patience with you to the beach as we close out on a summer without a lot of extreme heat. Have a great weekend.
