The Department of Defense announced Friday that Spc. Brian Arsenault, of Northborough, Massachusetts, died Thursday in Ghazni, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his unit was engaged by enemy small-arms fire.

The 28-year-old Arsenault was a 2004 Algonquin Regional High School graduate.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
