Teen Struck By School Bus In Northbridge
A 15-year-old Northbridge High School freshman is at a hospital in a medically-induced coma with multiple skull fractures after he was struck by a bus while riding his bicycle after school.
Police say the teen darted out between cars into the street and was struck by a bus travelling about 30 miles per hour just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The impact threw the boy about 40 feet and knocked off his sneakers.
Police say he was not wearing a helmet.
There were no students on the bus. The driver, an 84-year-old man, was visibly distraught and has not been charged.
By the time police arrived, passers-by, including the school nurse, were tending to the boy.
The student's name was not made public.
