No names have been released. Both blazes remain under investigation.

State Fire Marshal's spokeswoman Jennifer Mieth says it appears as if the victim in the Edgartown fire escaped but re-entered the home to save a pet.

The two-alarm Taunton fire was reported at about 3:45 a.m. Thursday by a person driving past.

The victim was found near his front door and fire officials believe he was trying to get out.
