Finally: Countdown Clocks Debut On Green Line

The first countdown clocks on the MBTA's Green Line debuted Friday.

The clocks, at the Newton Centre and Newton Highlands stations on the D branch, let riders know when the next train is due to arrive.

The MBTA says the rest of the D branch stations will get countdown clocks within a few weeks. And next will be underground Green Line stations — the T says it's currently working to install the necessary tracking equipment.

“We anticipate bringing countdowns to the first Green Line subway stations this summer,” the T's interim general manager, Frank DePaola, said in a statement.

While there's no word yet when the other Green Line branches might get the clocks, you can use the "Greenline" iPhone app to track where the trains are.

All Orange, Red and Blue line stations already have countdown clocks.
