Forecast: A Mostly Sunny Weekend Ahead

The summer of amazing sunshine continues today and through much of the upcoming weekend. However, there are some brief changes that will impact the weather later Sunday and Monday.

The overall pattern continues to be dry with above average temperatures. Typical readings would be in the upper-70s to lower-80s this weekend, but this year, most of the areas will better than that by several degrees.

Of course we need rain, but it won’t fall this weekend. Today, high pressure remains in control with abundant sunshine and warm temperatures. An afternoon wind off the water will keep coastal locations cooler than yesterday, but still great for being outside and enjoying the beach.

Speaking of the beach, tides are high around 1 p.m. this weekend, meaning morning boaters should be aware of the low tide and also those of you boating in the evening when the tide will again be low around 7 p.m.

Saturday is a great day as well. I expect blue skies and warm temperatures again.

Sunday won’t be quite as nice as Saturday. The reason is a cold front that will be moving east. Winds ahead of this front will bring some clouds. You should prepare for a partly sunny day. Some areas may stay mostly sunny while others have more clouds, it won’t be a bad day at all, just not as nice as the past several. I can’t rule out a shower, but it’s a 90 percent chance you won’t see them.

Monday brings a few showers. I don’t expect widespread rain — and this isn’t a drought busting system — but hopefully we get some showers because it’s back to sunshine the rest of next week.
