Forecast: Sunny And Crisp October Weather This Weekend

Fall weather arrives in waves. One day it's mild and then it turns colder, only to have the mild weather return again a few days later.

These waves of cool and warmth are typical. If you look at them on a chart you'd see the peak of each wave getting lower the deeper into fall we go and the valleys become lower. Eventually, by mid-winter these waves reach their lowest levels of the year before the opposite starts to happen again.

We are on the cusp of some cooler weather going into into the weekend, but could expect that to be followed by a stretch of "Indian summer" (when temperatures will rebound to above average readings after a frost or freeze).

Today you will notice any touches of humidity from yesterday are gone and the air has that crisp, fall feel. This is setting us up for a sunny and pleasant day, but also a cool to cold night ahead. If you live away from the coast and still have a garden growing you should cover it tonight. I do see many areas that haven't had a freeze yet experiencing one and this will kill tender vegetation. The most likely areas for this are in the lower spots, west of Route 128, but even some areas closer to Boston might see a frost.

The weekend is looking just stunning, with plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Highs on Saturday will reach the upper 50s to near 60 and you can add a few degrees to this on Sunday.

Have a terrific weekend.

Friday: Sunshine and pleasantly cool. Highs near 60.

Friday night: Clear and cold. Frost away from the coast. Lows 28 in the cold spots, to 43 in Boston.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 50s.

Sunday: More sunshine, comfortable. Highs near 60.

Monday: Still sunny and dry. Highs in the lower to middle 60s.

Tuesday: Fine October weather. Sunshine, with highs well into the 60s.
