Forecast: November-Like Rainstorm On The Way

Temperatures Wednesday morning will be in the 20s and 30s across the area with some of the coldest air of the season thus far. If you left out any water overnight there's likely a film of ice on it. The cold weather is part of an air mass which came in from Canada the past few days and was reinforced late Tuesday. Temperatures will be similar to Tuesday, when it remained under 50 degrees. That was the first time highs didn't reach 50 degrees since the first week of May this year.

Wednesday will feature lots of sunshine. This will help our readings in the 30s to reach the mid- and upper-40s this afternoon.

Wednesday night will be another cold one — perhaps as cold as the morning or even a bit colder if skies remain clear.

Thursday clouds will quickly increase and then rain begins late morning or early afternoon. With the cold air still in place, there could be some snowflakes mixed with the rain for an hour or two before temperatures warm up enough to keep the precipitation all rain.

In the Berkshires, the cold weather will be in place longer and therefore there might be a slushy accumulation of an inch or two snow. If you are traveling to that part of Massachusetts, or into interior areas of northern New England, driving might be a bit tricky for a few hours Thursday afternoon.

The rain will be heavy at times Thursday night before ending Friday. The map below shows how much rain fall to expect overnight Thursday.
