On Monday, six lawmakers tasked with negotiating changes to the voter-approved law legalizing recreational marijuana in Massachusetts voted to close the session to the public.

WBUR's Steve Brown reports for Morning Edition that there are no laws requiring the meetings be in public. He discusses what's being worked out and reasons why it's happening behind closed doors, as well as how some people are frustrated by the lack of transparency.

This segment aired on June 27, 2017.
