Police Recover $14,000 Flute Stolen From BU

A $14,000 silver flute that was stolen from a Boston student months ago has been recovered.

Boston University police tell WCVB-TV it took "dogged gumshoe police work" to solve the case this week.

The instrument and an iPad were stolen when the music major stepped away from an empty classroom at the end of August. BU police say they checked security footage from the area and searched pawn shop databases to try and find the instrument.

Officers were eventually able to identify a suspect who agreed to return the stolen items Thursday.

The suspect is expected to appear in court Friday on larceny and trespass charges.

A flute maker familiar with the victim says she was very happy and relieved to hear the news.
