Forecast: Nice Weather To Prepare For When The Weather Eventually Isn't So Tranquil

It's cold across the area this morning with temperatures down in the 20s. With light winds this afternoon and abundant sunshine, temperatures will reach back into the lower to mid-40s and feel fairly comfortable for the final day of November.

This is been a month that's been drier than average and a little bit colder than average, but not excessively so. We started the month on a very warm note. You may remember temperatures were around 70 as November got started. This was followed by a blast of record-breaking cold and since then, temperatures have been oscillating between a few degrees above and a few degrees below average, which is typical.

The most unusual thing about our weather is the fact that there's not a lot going on. A week ago it looked as though there might have been a very wet nor'easter for tomorrow, but as the days progressed the models decided that storm would not materialize. Now we're just looking at a slight chance of showers for the early morning hours of Friday.

Sunshine returns during the day tomorrow and the lack of storms will continue right through the weekend. Temperatures will be seasonable and this is a good chance to continue preparing for winter.

If you live in an apartment or a condo, where someone takes care of shoveling, then of course there's not a lot to do to get ready for snow, but for those of us with driveways and walkways it's time to put out the driveway markers and check the snowblower to be sure that it works. Next week continues to be seasonably mild or even a little bit above average, but it does look like things will cool down at the end of next week and beyond as Arctic air moves into the country.
