Several Minor Injuries Reported After MBTA Trolley Collision On Mattapan Line

Minor injuries have been reported after two MBTA trolleys collided on the Mattapan line at approximately 3:15 p.m.

The trolleys made contact on the inbound track between the Cedar Grove and Butler stations. The cause of the crash is under investigation, an MBTA spokesperson said. The investigation will include inspections of the equipment and interviews with the trolley operators.

In a final update on the accident, Boston's Emergency Medical Services said on Twitter that a total of 17 patients were evaluated and 16 were transported to area hospitals.

Shuttle buses are currently replacing service in both directions on the Mattapan line.
