Forecast: Warm Weather On Tap

Monday was a much warmer day, and this morning readings are still in the 40s. The overnight showers were the result of a warm front lifting northward through New England.

Warm fronts have their coolest air to the north of the boundary and the warmest air to the south. Since we are now in the warm sector, despite a cloud cover today, temperatures will reach near 60 degrees. Record highs are possible for today and Wednesday.

Overnight Melting

Tonight will be a very mild night for the second half of February. Snow will continue to melt rapidly with temperatures staying at above 50 degrees in most locations.

This of course will make for a Wednesday, when temperatures will reach near 70. There's only been two other times when the temperature reached 70 in February — one was back in 1985 and the other was last year. For us to reach 70 again, a second year in a row, would be unprecedented.

A cold front will push this route and bring temperatures back towards seasonal averages on Thursday, but still above where we should be in February.

Temperatures may remain above freezing from Friday all the way through the entire weekend.

Don't get too excited about an early spring yet, though. March cometh.
