Forecast: A Bit Of Everything This Week

Depending on where you are this morning there is some fog and low cloudiness around. The good news is I expect this to break up and leave us with a partly to mostly sunny day. This will be accompanied with rather pleasant temperatures for the middle of May.

A frontal system will cross the area on Tuesday and pull up much warmer and much more humid air. As the cold front moves east, there will be a line of showers and thunderstorms developing . Some of these could contain some downpours and strong gusty winds. We'll have to see if anything reaches strong to severe levels. There is a small risk of this occurring and it's showing up on the severe outlook map for Tuesday.

After Tuesday, the most likely scenario is that this frontal system moves far enough to the south so that we clear out Wednesday and Thursday. If the forecast is going to go wrong during that time, it would be that the front doesn't move far enough away and we keep more clouds than I'm forecasting.

Sometime late this week or during the weekend it doesn't look like we're going to see a period of rain. After a wet and chilly April it has been quite dry this month so far and we do need the rain. This isn't just me as a gardener talking, because if you look at the numbers we are significantly below average in terms of rain for the first two weeks of the month. Hopefully this does change in the coming week.
