Forecast: Great Weather This Week

After a weekend of beautiful weather it's time to look ahead toward the work week and even glance at what might happen next weekend. Overall, we're in a very dry pattern which began in May and continues into the second week of June.

Rainfall will be basically non-existent this week and this pattern could continue right up until the fourth week of the month. This doesn't mean we'll see any rain at that point, but there's really no significant rain in the forecast.

The dry pattern is the result of a northwest flow of air at upper levels and this keeps the moisture at a minimum. This also means low levels of humidity. There is a slight change coming during the middle of this week when humidity levels will rise a bit and it will feel somewhat sticky Wednesday into Thursday morning.

Wednesday brings the warmest temperatures of the week. This also means nighttime readings will be at their warmest levels Wednesday night, when it will stay in the 60s for most of us.

Last week, the most populated areas of New England went under the initial stages of drought and this will definitely be something I'll be monitoring to see how bad this becomes.

The lack of rain means you'll be able to enjoy the large amount of daylight we are now experiencing, but it also means that if you are a gardener you will definitely need to be using water sources other than Mother Nature because that's just not going to be adequate. The earliest sunrise of the year takes place this Thursday. After that, the sunrise will slowly be getting slightly later from now until early January.
