Forecast: Sunshine Followed By Possible Storms

Drier air is eventually going to move into New England, but it won't happen until Sunday. Until then we have more humidity, more warm temperatures and a chance for showers and thunderstorms.

If you're making plans this weekend you should know that Friday there is definitely the chance for showers and storms, some of which could be strong to severe. They are most likely to hit late afternoon over western New England and into the overnight further east. We have sunshine until these storms develop, so you can enjoy a warm summer day until then.

Saturday, another line of showers and storms may or may not affect Boston, but is likely to develop south of the city, crossing over southeastern Massachusetts. These storms could also be strong to severe.

If you're trying to decide about outdoor plans, the risk of showers and storms today is low through 4 p.m in Boston and perhaps even later. The risk on Saturday is highest south of the Mass Pike and on Sunday it looks like there's just the chance for a couple of light showers especially again south of the Pike.

This doesn't mean we're not going to see any sunshine the next three days, but there will be clouds in the sky from time to time. I think the clouds will be especially thick Saturday midday and again Sunday. The most sun looks to be today.

The biggest bust in the forecast could come on Sunday, when, if a frontal system moves a little further south, we'll have more sunshine than I'm forecasting. If the front is a little further north, we'll have more in the way of clouds and a better chance for showers.

Dry weather looks to continue the first couple of days next week along with low levels of humidity.
