Lawrence Man Operating Motorized Scooter Dies In Crash With SUV In Methuen

Police in Massachusetts say a man operating a motorized scooter without a helmet has died in a crash with an SUV.

Methuen police say the scooter rider and the SUV crashed at about 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

Police say the scooter was heading west when it crossed the center line and made contact with the SUV heading in the opposite direction.

The scooter driver was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where he later died. The two people in the SUV were not hurt.

The scooter operator's name was not released. Police say he is 24 and from Lawrence.

The crash is under investigation.
