Susan Stamberg talks to Leonard Slatkin, musical director of the National Symphony Orchestra, about a two week musical festival underway here in Washington that celebrates music by composers who emigrated to America, or whose music was influenced by their visits to this country. The festival is called "Journey to America: A Musical Immigration," and features compositions by Stravinsky, Bartok, Rachmaninoff, as well as contemporary composers from Asia and Latin America.
