More than a year since its release, people are still raving about Colombian group Bomba Estereo's album, Blow Up. Combining a traditional Cumbia sound with electro music, the group uses loops, funky bass and Cumbia percussion to create a sensual yet energetic sound.
Bomba Estereo started as the solo project of Simon Meija, but since has grown into a foursome. Coupled with its bombastic sound are sensual, sultry lyrics, lending the music a nightclub spirit. Listen to a pared-down studio session with host David Dye.
