Letterman, Leno, Oprah Star In Super Bowl Ad
The Super Bowl spot was to promo David Letterman's show on CBS. It shows Letterman and Oprah Winfrey on a couch watching the game along with NBC's Jay Leno. Oprah and Leno were flown to New York to make the 15 second ad which took less than half an hour to shoot.
RENEE MONTAGNE, host:
Good morning. Im Renee Montagne.
The Super Bowl ad that many are talking about this morning showed two archrivals being very good sports. Just 15 seconds long, it showed David Letterman munching chips and grousing about the game with Jay Leno. Oprah Winfrey sat between them on the couch, as referee. Leno wore a fake moustache to sneak into CBSs New York studio. The spot took 30 minutes to shoot - a cordial beginning to the late-night battle to come.
