No one is exempt from heartbreak — not the even the person who initiates the break up — just ask Golden Rules, the duo comprised of U.K. producer Paul White (Danny Brown, Homeboy Sandman, Guilty Simpson) and Florida rapper and singer Eric Biddines.
The wistful yet up-tempo "It's Over" revolves around the internal dialogue of a man contemplating the end of a tumultuous relationship with a woman he can't seem to live with or without, second guessing himself all the way. With a timbre that recalls Devin the Dude's singing voice, first Biddines hesitates: "But if you think you really gon' miss her/ I suggest you put the phone down/ Is you looking at the big picture?/ She the one that you should hold down." But finally he comes to grips with the sad reality that what they had is no more: "I think it's over." I guess Joni and Janet were right, sometimes you don't know what you've got till it's gone.
Golden Rules' Golden Ticket album will be released on August 7.
