Rose Cousins On Mountain Stage

Rose Cousins. (Mountain Stage)

Rose Cousins makes her first appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live in Charleston, W.Va. One of Canada's most respected young singer-songwriters, the Prince Edward Island native has won a Juno Award for Roots & Traditional Album Of The Year, not to mention a pile of other national and local awards.

Now living in Halifax, Cousins has performed in Boston for nearly a decade, and remains deeply involved in that city's musical community. So it's no surprise when she opens her set with a song by respected Boston-area singer-songwriter Lori McKenna. Appropriately enough, Cousins is joined onstage for her final song, "Stray Birds," by roots band The Stray Birds, which just happened to be on hand to perform for Mountain Stage. Asa Brosuus joins in on dobro.
