NPRThe Face of King Tut

  • June 16, 2005, 12:00 AM

The King Tut exhibit opens amid controversy over how the boy king really looked. A highlight of the exhibit is a computer recreation of the mummy's face. Protestors at an opening night party insisted that King Tut's recreation makes him out to be too white. The head of a local NAACP, Fred Shaw, said earlier reconstructions have shown King Tut to be "decidedly Negroid." Egypt's chief archaeologist insists Tut looks Egyptian.
