Famous Recipe Gets a New Oil Job
KFC's 5,500 restaurants will stop frying chicken in trans fat, which has been linked to heart disease, and will be fried instead in soybean oil. A health message will soon be stamped on the chicken bucket alongside the iconic image of Colonel Sanders.
STEVE INSKEEP, host:
Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.
If you believe the claim on the side of the bucket, you can now head to KFC for health food. The company once known as Kentucky Fried Chicken has changed. Its 5,500 restaurants will stop frying meat in trans fat. Trans fat clogs arteries and has been linked to heart disease. So from now on, the chicken will be fried in soybean oil. A health message will soon be stamped on the side of the chicken bucket alongside Colonel Sanders.
