Over the next two days and nights, it will be all NFL all the time, except when it’s pregame guessing and postgame analysis.  That’s exactly how Matt Crossman of The Sporting News likes it.  He joins Bill Littlefield for a NFL playoffs preview.

The Portland Trailblazers haven’t made the playoffs since 2003, but they’re currently battling for the top spot in the NBA’s North West Division.  As Only A Game’s Sadie Babits reports, Portland fans are swarming back to see just how far this young team will go.

The College Football Bowl Season is in full swing, and that means we’re well on our way to finding out just how badly the B.C.S. system got it wrong this year.  Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports offers his analysis.

Each year, hundreds of people come to Nebraska Wesleyan University to see the event which was called the “Rat Olympics” until the USOC objected a few years ago, and which the psychology department feels is a valuable learning tool for its students.  Martin Wells has the story from Lincoln, Nebraska.

As we move from 2008 into 2009, many people find themselves looking forward. Commentator Bill Littlefield, on the other hand, looks backward and thinks about what might have been.

Bill and Only A Game analyst Charlie Pierce discuss; NFL playoff predictions, aging athletes, and the wrong way to stop a drunk driver.

Since 1991, Glenn Stout has been overseeing the collecting of the year’s best sports writing.  The guest editor of the 2008 edition is William Nack, who has eloquently written about Secretariat and various other winners.  Bill talks about the latest edition with Glenn Stout and Bill Nack.

This program aired on January 3, 2009.
