The NFL season began on Thursday evening, as the Green Bay Packers outlasted the New Orleans Saints, 42-34. Only A Game analyst Charlie Pierce comments on how the Packers are looking so far coming off their Super Bowl victory last season. Also, it's raining, it's pouring...and the schedule for the U.S. Open has has to be redrawn for the second consecutive year.  Charlie gives a brief overview of the Rugby World Cup currently underway in New Zealand, the predicted "bloodbath" scheduled to occur during NASCAR's Chase for the Cup on Saturday, and the hold-up involved in Jim Crane's purchase of the Houston Astros. Finally, the loss of captain "Superpippo" of the Italian national swimming team in a race to a couple of speedy marine mammals.
