Another Football year by Betty Jean Robinson (from The Coach Collection, MCA, 1989)
The game goes on and on, and so does this song, from year-to-year. I think this is the same Betty Jean Robinson who's now better known for her gospel singing than she is for dissing America's game. Either way, she seems to have a preoccupation with Sundays.
Get Along Little Dogies by Riders in the Sky (from Saddle Pals, Rounder, 1992)
These guys played their first show in November 1977, which surely makes them the world's hardest-working Comedy and Western band.
Que Pena by Samuelito Almonte y Su Conjunto Tipico (from Viva Baseball Soundtrack, 2005)
For some reason, the documentary DVD is available, but not the CD soundtrack. Weird.
Food by Dinosaur Lightning (from http://www.myspace.com/dinosaurlightning/music/songs/food-26607194)
Why can't these crazy kids put their music out on normal media…like CD, vinyl, cassette and 8 track? That's what we did when we were their age. Sure, we had to sell our souls to gangsters, give away the rights to our best material and suffer the incompetency of the minimum wage hacks who "worked" our releases. But, hey, it was worth it and, what's more, we liked it! Now, there's this newfangled gimcrack called My Space, or [ or ], or whatever it is. Feh! (This message jointly brought to you by the Let's Bring Back the Edison Disc Society and the Hurrah for Wire Recorders Consortium)
Flipper Theme (from Television's Greatest Hits, TVT, 1986)
They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No-one you see, is smarter than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
Flying there-under, under the sea!
Everyone loves the king of the sea,
Ever so kind and gentle is he,
Tricks he will do when children appear,
And how they laugh when he's near!
If there was to be a TV sitcom featuring Michael Phelps, this theme could see double duty.
This segment aired on September 10, 2011. The audio for this segment is not available.
