Resume
photoJohn Kenneth Galbraith has lived through every major event of the past century — and his writings have influenced the players in many of them.

In addition to revolutionizing economic theory, Galbraith had a distinguished career in public service. He served in both the FDR and JFK Administrations, and is the only man to have served as President of both the American Economics Association and the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. His theories attacked the basic assumptions of economics, including the assumption that markets allowed firms to compete equally.

This hour, John Kenneth Galbraith welcomes Tom Ashbrook into his home for a rare interview. The grand old man of economics discusses the Enron debacle, America's cycles of booms and busts, and President Bush's War on Terror.

Guests:

John Kenneth Galbraith, Professor of Economics Emeritus at Harvard University, internationally known for his development of Keynesian and post-Keynesian economics.

This program aired on March 11, 2002.
