photoOne day before Hans Blix presents his report to the United Nations and with the United States seemingly on the brink of an invasion, President Bush holds a news conference. The White House says there will not be any critical announcements on the Iraq crisis, but in the president's opening statement, he will stress the importance of disarming Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

The news conference comes at a critical time. Yesterday, France, Germany, and Russia declared they would not support a UN resolution authorizing force against Iraq.

Guests:

James P. Pinkerton, Columnist at Newsday.com, former White House aide to Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush

Eleanor Clift, contributing Editor at Newsweek magazine

Jack Beatty, On Point News Analyst and Senior Editor for the Atlantic Monthly magazine.

This program aired on March 6, 2003.
