photoIn his new book "American Dynasty: Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush," political commentator and former White House strategist Kevin Phillips takes on the Bush dynasty, and traces four generations of aristocracy, fortune and politics.

Phillips says that each Bush generation is firmly rooted in oil, investment banking money, and the nexus of privileged power that spans American politics and business. These ties, Phillips says, have now tainted America's top office, influencing political appointments and the White House response to major developments. Phillips also charges that the House of Bush has passed down an active penchant for "secrecy and calculated deception," which may one day threaten America itself.
