photoRepublican delegates around the country are boarding planes and heading to funky New York City, where Democrats outnumber Republicans five to one, for next week's Republican National Convention.

There will be lots of Convention activity to keep them busy, from early morning breakfast meetings to political meet-and-greets to swanky uptown parties.

But to help them decide how to spend their downtime in the city that never sleeps, three long-time New Yorkers, Calvin Trillin, Gay Talese and Susan Cheever give the RNC delegates a sense of what to expect from that little island in the middle of the Hudson.

Guests:

Michael Powell, Washington Post New York bureau chief

Calvin Trillin, Deadline Poet, The Nation magazine, staff writer, The New Yorker, author of "Obliviously On He Sails: The Bush Administration in Rhyme"

Gay Talese, writer, author, "Unto The Sons" and "Honor Thy Father"

Cheri Hottinger, RNC delegate from Newark, Ohio.

This program aired on August 27, 2004.
